Berg Cruise Home Page

In 1997 the 2nd annual Gene Berg Memorial National Cruise returned to VOA Headquarters. The picture you see on the left shows the incredible line up of VWs. There were Ovals, Split windows, a Hebmuller of Bill Collins, Roland Metz late model cruiser and of course the GENE BERG memorial cruise members. New to the cruise in 97 in their yellow split were Jerry and Angie Coffin.  Their turbo'd 1600cc VW had a hole in the metal W decklid for the turbo to stick out! Talk about a something to cause a Vintage coronary.  Many other great new cruise members joined us in 97 with their cars including the enduring Jim "the Kamakazi Kid" Kakuchi. Jim's
ghia suffered a major engine failure which cruise members helped go through and repair so Jim could still complete the cruise and get home.

This This photo, taken from the 3rd Floor of the VOA headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan, captures the Vintage Cruisers of Bill Collins and the Hot VW cruisers of the Gene Berg Memorial National cruise together. It was a tribute to the stock and high performance VW cars that get driven!
