1999 Christmas Lights Tour
Max Welton

Here are some pictures taken on the 1999 Blitzkrieg VWs Christmas Lights cruise on December 23rd. We took an extensive tour of some local neighborhoods, winding up in downtown San Jose at the Christmas-in-the-Park display.

The '67 performed very well on this cruise. I do think Brandy's tranny is asking for some attention, though. When started cold (first start of the day) there's a bearing-type rattling noise that stops when the clutch is depressed. It also goes away when the engine warms up.

These pictures are the first taken with my new digital camera (a Sony Mavika FD88) and many of them are very grainy and under exposed. The camera doesn't work well in low-light situations and is rather sensitive to movement. I was able to improve some of them by increasing both the brightness and contrast with some software that came with the camera, but better software and/or technique might get more out of them. I have the originals if someone else would like to try.

Weeble hung the banner on the side of his bus and pointed a small light back at it. Looks pretty cool from the street, but the battery didn't last very long.
Fweemin' Dan's bug was sporting these scallops, applied by Nelson. Cool!
Weeble (known for standing on his vehicles) hold the pre-cruise drivers meeting.
These two shots were taken as we formed up to leave the hangout.
The view out the back. It was decided that larger vehicles would be positioned to the rear.
Here's another shot forward. Jamie was riding shotgun and took all of the shots from the car. Her Cabrio was feeling poorly and remained behind.
This night shot is pretty dark. The VW lights look kinda cool though.
These next three were taken during a regroup-stop. They're pretty grainy.
A bit later it was decided that a "rest" stop was in order. So we pulled up at a mini-mart / gas station to take care of business. Brandy can be seen on the right.
Here a bunch of BKers "resting".
The end-point of the cruise was downtown San Jose at Christmas-in-the-park. This picture was taken just after we circled the park and were headed for the parking garage.
Still on the way to the parking garage. That's Nelson's '67 on the left.
Finally at the garage, this is us milling around.
At the park.
Group Shot #1. Grainy.
Group Shot #2. An almost unusable photo.
And Fweemin' Dan's kids had fun too!
