These pictures were taken during the Wolfsburg Pacific cruise to Solvang 6, September 29 through October 1, 2000.
The South bay part of the group assembled in the Chuck-E-Cheeze parking lot near 101 and Tully in San Jose at 9:00 AM and were joined by the folks driving in from Oakland.
The group departing San Jose included Steve Hollingsworth, Jim Kikuchi, Richard Baca, Richard Zavala and Sara Shappee, Max and Bobbie Welton, Julie Aleva and Ryan Holmboe, Kathy Boyle, Jenny Jaimes with her son Valentino and Tony Ramirez, Wally and Robin Grivois. Eric Yuhasz joined us as we drove through Gilroy.
The assembled group left San Jose shortly after 9:30 and traveled South on highway 101, then West on highway 152 and South on the coast highway to the Lighthouse Grill (in Moss Landing) where we had lunch.
There's another picture of the group showing the other half of the room. It was taken with Bobbie's film camera. I'll put it up when they have been developed.
Friday evening we got together for dinner with other Solvang-goers at the Andersens Split Pea. Many other WolfPac members were present along with a contingent from the Silver Circle club in Lakeport and friends from Arizona.
Here are a few show-shots from the arena. There were some fine looking cars. The swaps were rather sparse.
And here are some excellent pictures provided by Richard Baca.
Bobbie and I left the show early to take in the local sights. These included Abelskivers (round pancake-like eats), emu and ostrichs, Nojoqui Falls and many antique and craft stores. And, yes, Shopping was committed. We also took a nice ride over to the coast and back.
Bobbie and I skipped the winery tour on Sunday and did some more bumming around Solvang. It was neat seeing so many VWs around town this weekend. Not the trailor-queens mind you, but the daily drivers. Sort of like turning the clock back 20 years.
