On October 21st 2000, Don and Lee Bulitta held a social event for their friends of the VW persuasion at their home in Phoenix. I was fortunate enough to be both invited and able to attend.
Now the last trip I made to Don's was for the Phoenix Bug-o-Rama. I had serious problems overheating on that trip as well as on this years Gene Berg Memorial National Cruise. So, before this cruise began, a new external oil cooler was added to the Ghia. Thanks to Ray Shubert and Steve Hollingworth for welding, wiring and plumbing assistance! What a difference that made!
Jim Kickuchi, Steve Hollingsworth and I left San Jose early Friday morning. Somewhere between LA and Phoenix we caught up with Eric Yuhasz. That's his beautiful red bug behind Don's house. If you get the chance, ask to hear the horn.
Although rain was forecast to begin sometime Saturday, attendance was good. That's Matt Harris tinkering with his Super Beetle. Don looks like he's on a mission. He already has a beer, so it couldn't be too serious.
And here's Steve Hollingsworth with John Peters. Lots of Wolfsburg Registry members about. They're a fun bunch.
As usual, there were lots of nice cars. Everything from vintage to wild.
